Sir Henry Cooper Junior Championships – Overview, Criteria and Format

Current Format

The tournament is a 3-round championship for those under 18 on 1st January.
Separate competition for boys and girls. Approximately 20% of the field may be girls.

Maximum field: 141

Handicaps requirement is 2.4 for boys and 5.4 for girls. Handicaps taken at the point of the draw.

Round 1, day 1 is mixed match groups of 3 with a two-tee start for both am and pm sessions at 10-minute tee times.

Round 2, day 2 is the reverse of day 1 with am playing in the afternoon and pm playing in the morning.

Round 3, day 3 final day, mixed match groups of 3 with a two tee start for both am and pm sessions at 10-minute tee times.  The top half will play in the afternoon with the leaders playing from the 1st in descending order ie: those with the highest score first and the lowest scores last.

Practice Facilities

Improve and brush up on your skills before and after your round at our practice facilities, including driving range, putting greens and chipping zones.

Practice facilities open:

1 Thursday 8.00 – 19.00
2 Friday, Saturday, Sunday 7.30 – 19.00

Practice balls can be purchased from the Pro Shop from 7.00 but practice cannot commence until 7.30.

Clubhouse

Our clubhouse in the perfect place to unwind after your round, with superb views across the course.

During the championships the clubhouse will be open from 7.00 until dusk.

Breakfast and lunch menus are available at the bar.  Please order and pay for your food, a receipt will be issued and must be presented to the chef at the carvery.

1 Thursday 8.00 – 11.30
2 Friday, Saturday, Sunday 7.00 – 11.30

 

Buffet lunch available:

1 Thursday 12.00 – 17.00
2 Friday, Saturday, Sunday 12.00 – 17.00

 

Dress Code

The dress code is clean, smart casual clothes to be worn at all times. Soft spikes only in the clubhouse and on the course.

Prizes

Depending on number of players, as follows:

Trophies for the top 3 boys and top 2 girls plus under 16 winners

Vouchers for the top 6 boys and top 3 girls plus under 16 winners

Nation’s trophy is based on teams of 3 which can be mixed and based on the first two rounds only. Teams are to be selected by country managers before the commencement of play. Trophies only not monetary awards presented to players and managers.

Kings Hill Golf Club, Kent extends a warm welcome as it proudly plays host to the prestigious Sir Henry Cooper Junior Championships. Nestled amidst picturesque landscapes, the club opens its doors to the young and talented golfers under the age of 18, creating an inviting atmosphere for both players and spectators alike.

Set in over 200 acres of undulating terrain, Kings Hill Golf Club features large areas of protected heath and mature woodland. The 6,600 yard par 72 golf course has been built to the highest specifications, with USGA standard greens and tees.

Practice facilities include a full length practice range, a short game practice area and putting green.
